Police have charged six teenage boys – one aged 14 – over 11 armed robberies in Melbourne’s west.
Police from the Brimbank Embona taskforce, the Altona North divisional response unit and Operation BIA executed five warrants yesterday morning at houses in Sunshine, St Albans, Caroline Springs and Deer Park.
They later charged a boy aged 14, a 15-year-old, two 16-year-olds and two 17-year-olds with armed robbery.
They were ordered to appear in the Children’s Court on dates ranging from today to January 15. Five of them were remanded in custody and the sixth, a 17-year-old Caroline Springs boy was bailed.
A man 21, from Deer Park, was also interviewed and released pending further enquiries.
Police said the 11 incidents took place in daytime at various locations between Nobember 7 and 20 this year.
