A NEW cricket ground has been established this season to help foster the growth of junior development in the sport at Kangaroo Flat.
The Kangaroo Flat Primary School has had a new carpet pitch laid and will be a home ground for the Roos’ under-11 side.
Funds for the new pitch were raised by pupils from the primary school, Kangaroo Flat Cricket Club and grant money from Northgate Mining, plus there was a donation of labour and equipment from Lyons Constructions.
The new oval will help to ease the burden on finding venues for Kangaroo Flat’s juniors, which since losing two ovals as part of the Crusoe College redevelopment, have had to play games at various grounds across Bendigo in recent seasons.
