New chairperson welcomed

HOW refreshing to read that the new Reclaim the Base chairperson Jo Clutterbuck is “Back to Basics” (Sunraysia Daily Wednesday, November 21).

It seems that the new direction will be less divisive and more constructive in dealing with the major issue of “ownership of land” and exploring a process by which salary packaging can be offered to Mildura Base Hospital staff.

I congratulate Jo on her olive branch to local Member Peter Crisp, and finally the recognition of his hard work for his community behind the scenes to encourage Health Minister David Davis to engage with members of Reclaim the Base to present their case and concerns.

I am sure the minister wants to start spending the funds already allocated to Mildura Base and may have some good news for Reclaim the Base around this issue.

With constructive and less divisive dialogue over time, maybe both parties will come to terms with what mix is best for the continued good health service at Mildura Base Hospital for our community.

Finally, I would like to say to Jo, you are a lot more than just a good mother as you say in your article.

Over the years in your role in health you have contributed much as I hope you will in your new role as chairperson of Reclaim the Base.
