SOUTH Tamworth residents now have an upgraded electricity network after improvement works were completed along Bylong Rd.
Essential Energy regional general manager Matt Patterson said the project saw crews replace more than two kilometres of power lines, 24 power poles, two new transformers, and other network equipment.
“South Tamworth is a growing area and the improvement works were essential to ensuring that a reliable and secure power supply could continue to be delivered,” Mr Patterson said.
The upgrade will directly benefit the areas of The Heights, the Longyard area, and the Bylong Rd area which haveall seen some planned power interruptionsduring the upgrade.
Crews were called in from Barraba, Quirindi and Armidale to use some live wire techniques to minimise power disruptions during some stages of the upgrade.
“The upgrade will provide Essential Energy with greater flexibility to reroute and restore power more quickly should an unplanned power interruption occur,” Mr Patterson said.
