Young SE cricketers gain state selection

TWO talented young Mount Gambier cricketers have gained selection to represent South Australia with other prospects yet to be announced.

Patrick Page Jnr. has been selected in the final 13 for the South Australian Cricket Association’s Under 17 State Cricket side to compete in the 2012/13 CA National Under 17 Championships.

The South Gambier cricketer has been named in the side as a top order batsmen and one of two wicketkeepers.

The under 17 competition will be held in Hobart during November 10-20 and will consist two one-day matches and three two-day games.

At only 14 years of age, Page is also eligible for selection in the Under 15 state side that will travel to Perth in February next year.

Yahl Cricket Club’s Matt Allen and West Gambier’s Ryan Hosking will also be considered for the under 15 squad.

Also representing the region at national level is young up-and-coming cricketer Jacob Wilson.

Wilson is one of 13 traveling to the Barossa Valley next month as part of the SAPSASA state team that will compete at the School Sport Australia 12 years old and under National Cricket Championships.

STATE SELECTION: Patrick Page has been selected to play in the U17 South Australian cricket side next month while also eligible for the U15 side that will compete next year
